Newcastle United Close in on Deal for Wissa

Yoane Wissa joined Brentford from Lorient in 2021.

Newcastle United are closing in on a deal worth £50m plus add-ons to sign Yoane Wissa from Brentford.

The DR Congo international had on Sunday 31 August, 2025 urged Brentford to keep their word and allow him leave to join Newcastle United.

Wissa, 28 joined Brentford from French Club, Lorient in 2021 and had gone on to score 49 goals in 149 games for the Bees.

His transfer would allow Newcastle United add more firepower to the team after securing the signature of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart last week.

Newcastle had earlier on deadline day agreed a British Record sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool to end a summer long transfer saga.

The sale of Wissa means Brentford have lost Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken who were all key components of the team last season and leave new Head Coach, Keith Andrews with a huge rebuilding to ensure they retain their Premier League status
