Jannik Sinner produced an impressive display to end Novak Djokovic’s 33 match winning run at the Australian Open to progress to his first grand slam final.
The Italian 4th seed triumphed 6 – 1, 6 – 2, 6 – 7, 6 – 3 over the World number one to hand Djokovic his first loss at Melbourne Park since 2018.
Djokovic’s defeat ends his bid for a record extending 11th Australian Open title and ensures that for the first time since 2005 no member of the famed Big three will be in the Championship match at Melbourne Park.
Sinner therefore awaits the winner of the second semi-final match between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev.
