Rafael Nadal Marches into the Australia Open Finals

Rafeal Nadal in action against Matteo Berrettini

Rafael Nadal produced a dominant display against No. 7 seed Matteo Berrettini as he marches into the final of the 2022 Australia Open.

The spaniard who is unbeaten this year took the game in four sets with a 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-3 victory and goes into his sixth Australia Open finals awaiting the winner of the second semi final between Daniil Medvedev and Stefanas Tsitsipas.

If Rafael Nadal wins the title on Sunday it will be his second Australia Open title and 21st Grand slam title putting him one ahead of long time rivals Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Reacting to his victory he said, “the first two sets were some of the best I have played in a long time. I had to suffer and I had to fight but to be in the final again means a lot.

Nadal whose only other title in Melbourne was in 2009 progressed to a 29th Grand Slam final a few months after thinking a foot injury could end his illustrious career.
